The Royal Caledonian Charities Trust prides itself on a history of charitable giving dating back to the early 19th century. Originally set up as a society ball to benefit the Caledonian Asylum and Scottish Hospital, we are now a grant-giving trust working with (and for) small charities throughout Scotland. It is estimated that around a million pounds has been raised over the last twenty years alone.
The Royal Caledonian Ball remains our core fundraising event. Held almost annually since at least 1822, it is now widely considered to be the world's oldest charitable ball and continues to draw hundreds of reelers to Grosvenor House each spring. The next Royal Caledonian Ball will be held on Friday 1st May, 2020.
